Depending on the operation temperature and maximum allowable temperature of the pipeline three types of SKIN–systems can be singled out:
- Low temperature type
maintained temperature from 3–5 °C;
purpose – protection water conduits from freezing;
- Medium temperature type
maintained temperature up to 60 °C;
purpose – maintaining the product temperature (oil, oil products);
- High temperature type
maintained temperature up to 200 °C;
purpose – maintaining the high-viscosity products temperature (paraffin-base crude oils, sulfur, chemical compounds).
